Privacy Policy
🛡️ Introduction
Your privacy is important to us. This policy details how we treat extension permissions locally on your machine.
🔍 Information We Collect
When you use the Vibe Fluency Companion extension and associated services, we collect specific types of information to provide you with our language learning features:
- Authentication Information: We collect your login credentials (via our secure authentication provider) to identify your account and save your progress.
- User Activity: We track which YouTube videos you analyze and the words/phrases you interact with to generate personalized lesson plans and flashcards.
- Website Content: The extension accesses the subtitles (captions) and metadata (title, description) of the YouTube videos you are watching only when you activate the sidebar. This text is processed to provide translations and definitions.
⚙️ How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data solely for the following purposes:
- To provide instant translations and definitions for video subtitles.
- To generate educational content (quizzes, exercises) based on the context of the videos you watch.
- To synchronize your learning progress across the extension, web app, and desktop application.
- To improve the accuracy of our AI analysis algorithms.
🔒 Data Protection & Sharing
Your privacy is paramount. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
We use standard industry security measures to protect your information during transmission and storage. Data is processed by our servers and trusted third-party AI providers (e.g., Google Gemini) strictly for the purpose of content analysis and is not retained by them for model training.
